PURPOSE : Provided are a high-efficiency nitride phosphor having an excitation band corresponding to the light in the ultraviolet-visible wavelength range emitted from a blue- or ultraviolet-light emitting part, a method for producing the phosphor, a light source or a light emitting diode(LED) using the phosphor in combination with a blue- or ultraviolet-light emitting part to emit visible or white light.
CONSTITUTION : The nitride phosphor has a composition formula of MmAaBbNn : Zz, wherein M is at least one divalent element selected from Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cd, and Hg; A is at least one trivalent element selected from boron, Al, Ga, In, Tl, Y, Sc, P, As, Sb, and Bi; B is at least one tetravalent element selected from Si, Ge, Sn, Ti, Hf, Mo, W, Cr, Pb, and Zr; N is nitrogen; Z is at least one activator element selected from rare-earth elements or transition metals; and (m+z) : a : b : n = 1 : 1 : 1 : 3. The method for producing the nitride phosphor comprises the step of sintering the raw material of the nitride phosphor in a sintering vessel formed from a boron nitride material under an inert gas including N2 or a noble gas at a temperature of 1200 to 1700deg.C. The light source or the LED comprises the phosphor and a light emitting part which emits light at a wavelength of 300 to 550 nm, a part of the light emitted from the light emitting part being the excitation source for the phosphor, and the phosphor being caused to emit light at a wavelength different from the excitation source.
