PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve such problems as internal short-circuiting, internal pressure increase and expansion from a comparatively early stage of charging and discharging cycle.SOLUTION : A nickel hydrogen secondary battery is mounted with a container 1 and a negative terminal 4 containing a hydrogen-storage alloy, and the container 1 is formed with a board material, whose tensile strength is 25 kgf/mm2-40 kgf/mm2, the yield point is 10 kgf/mm2-30 kgf/mm2, and the modulus of elasticity is 20, 000 kgf/mm2-26, 000 kgf/mm2. The hydrogen-storing alloy is expressed by general Formula (R1-xMgx)NiyAz (R is comprises a rare earth element including yttrium, or at least one element selected from among the rare earth elements, Ca, Zr and Ti.
