PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a flash discharge lamp wherein radiant quantities of an ultra-violet ray, in particular wave lengths of 300-400 nm are increased, and to provide a light energy irradiation device using this.
SOLUTION : In the flash discharge lamp HFL which comprises a translucent slender air-tight container SE, a pair of electrodes E, E sealed in the inside of both ends of the air-tight container SE, a discharge medium which is composed of a rare gas mainly containing krypton (Kr), sealed in the inside of the air-tight container SE, and emits light in discharging, and a trigger electrode installed adjacent to the circumference of the air-tight container SE, when the current density of a lamp current per interior cross-sectional area of the air-tight container SE in lighting is defined as ID (A/cm2), a formula ID ≥ 8000 is satisfied.
