PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth bond magnet capable of effectively preventing rust from being generated without lowering magnetic characteristics at a low cost while satisfying mechanical characteristics over a long period of time, and to provide a manufacturing method of the rare earth bond magnet capable of manufacturing the rare earth bond magnet with high productivity.
SOLUTION : The rare earth bond magnet involves a phenylphosphonic acid (PPA) derivative in the vicinity of its surface such that the amount of the elution of the PPA derivative is 10 to 1, 000 μg/cm3 in a rate corresponding to a PPA when dipping a rare earth bond magnet (10.0 mm×14.5 mm×0.5 mm) in 10 mL pure water at a 70±5°C temperature and shaking it over 1 hour. The manufacturing method of the rare earth bond magnet includes a surface treatment process of treating a rare earth bond magnet stock material with a PPA derivative solution having 1 to 10 mass% concentration.
