PURPOSE : An optical fiber and an optical amplifier using the same are provided to enlarge an operation range of the optical amplifier by amplifying optical signals through a non-linear Raman effect. CONSTITUTION : An optical fiber includes a cladding(20) and a core(10). A first rare-earth element is doped in the cladding. A second element which induces a non-linear Raman effect, is included in the core. A pumping ray traveling through the core is amplified into a first band by the first element. Then, the Raman-amplified ray is amplified into a second band. The first element is at least doped on a region which is adjacent to the core. © KIPO 2006
