PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth boroaluminate fluorophor emitting red color on being efficiently excited by ultraviolet radiation, and to provide a light-emitting device excellent in light-emitting characteristics using the fluorophor.
SOLUTION : The rare earth boroaluminate fluorophor comprises, as fundamental constituent elements, at least one element selected from yttrium, gadolinium and lutetium, europium, aluminum, boron and oxygen. In this fluorophor, the ratio of the total number of moles of aluminum plus boron to that of the rare earth elements is 0.1-2 and the ratio of the number of moles of boron to the total number of moles of aluminum plus boron is 0.001-0.5. The light-emitting device using this fluorophor is also provided.
