PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a soil conditioner which almost prevents a harmful causative substance in the soil from being discharged by not eluting itself, not taking out and eluting it in discharged water after washing in the water and not being influenced by pH and insolubilized, and the method of use thereof. SOLUTION : The granular soil conditioner is characterized in that the mixed rare earth element compound includes the rare earth element hydroxide other than lanthanum and/or a water-containing-oxide and 0.5-10% by mass of lanthanum hydroxide, and an average diameter of secondary aggregation particles is 0.2-25 μm, and a method of use for mixing them in the soil.
