PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare gas fluorescent lamp lighting device capable of lighting at a regulated light volume regardless of fluctuation of direct current power source voltage by applying frequency modulation to the rare gas fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION : Lighting frequency of the rare gas fluorescent lamp is controlled in accordance with a lamp current. By the above, discharge of the rare gas lamp is stabilized, and a light volume proportional to the lighting frequency can be obtained. The light volume can be constantly maintained by applying feed back control to the lighting frequency depending on the light volume of the rare gas fluorescent lamp. COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
