PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen storage alloy electrode which has a good alkaline resistance and continuous charge characteristics while containing rare earth-magnesium based hydrogen storage alloy and is suitable for improving volume energy density, and a secondary battery with a long life having this hydrogen storage alloy electrode which contributes to improving volume energy density and has good continuous charge characteristics. SOLUTION : The secondary battery includes a first hydrogen storage alloy particle 36 and a second hydrogen storage alloy particle 37 in the negative electrode plate 26. The first hydrogen storage alloy particle 36 has a composition as expressed by a general formula (I) : (Laa1Ceb1Prc1Ndd1(A1)e1)1-xMgx(Ni1-y(Tl)y)z.
