PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a Nd2Fe14B sintered magnet having a high maximum energy integral. SOLUTION : The sintered magnet has a texture including R2Fe14B (R represents at least a kind of rare-earth element and includes Nd and/or Pr as essential elements) crystal grains and a grain boundary existing on a boundary between the crystal grains. Composition analyses are conducted on a double-crystal grain boundary existing on a boundary between two adjacent crystal grains and a polycrystal grain boundary existing on a boundary among three or more adjacent crystal grains. For each of the crystal grain boundaries, Cu/R is determined which is a ratio of an amount of Cu to an amount of the element R and CM/C2≤0.7 is established where C2 represents Cu/R of the double-crystal grain boundary and CM represents Cu/R of the polycrystal grain boundary. Thus, it is possible to obtain a characteristic with the maximum energy integral of 400 kJ/m3 or larger. COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
