PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a waste sorting and recycling system capable of treating and sorting waste, wherein waste wood, pruned branches, fallen timber, tiles and pebbles such as concrete pieces and earth and sand are mixed, on the spot, and an operation method therefor. SOLUTION : The waste sorting and recycling system is equipped with a wood crusher 3 for receiving the wood from a sorting and charging machine 2 and the wood chips having a large size from a wood chip sorter described later to crush and chip them, a wood chip sorter 4 for sorting the wood chips from the wood crusher 3 into two kinds of large and small chips, a first sorter 6 for sorting waste other than wood sorted from the waste into three kinds of large, medium and small sizes, a second sorter 7 for sorting the waste having a large size sorted by the sorter 6 into tiles and pebbles, and residue, a crusher 8 for compressing and crushing the waste having a medium size sorted by the sorter 6, the tiles and pebbles sorted by the second sorter 7 and the crushed matter having a large size sorted by a third sorter, and the third sorter 9 for sorting the crushed matter from the crusher into two kinds of large and small sizes.
