PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a waste treatment method which surely and safely detoxifying an oxo anion-forming element contained in wastes. SOLUTION : In the waste treatment method, at least an element or compound (A) selected from the group consisting of a rare earth element, a rare earth element compound, a group IV element and a group IV element compound and an iron compound (B) are added to wastes which contain the oxo anion-forming element and/or a halogen element to detoxifying the oxo anion-forming element and/or the halogen element.
