A method for allocating an optimized CAP(Contention Access Period) duration in a high rate WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network) is provided to effectively allocate a channel to devices supporting a high rate in a sparse or dense environment with a low or high degree of integration by changing a construction of a super frame field. It is checked whether a degree of integration of devices is not greater than a threshold value 4(S710). If the degree of integration is not greater than 4, a CAP duration is calculated by using a CAP mechanism suitable for a sparse environment(S721). It is checked whether time requested by devices is smaller than a size of a remaining frame(S730). If the requested time is smaller than the size of the remaining frame, a DCAP(Dynamic CAP) is allocated before a beacon of a super frame is received(S740). A channel allocation time can be requested by using the DCAP, and a PNC(Piconet Coordinator) checks its resources and processes data within allocated time when a CTAP(Channel Time Allocation Period) starts(750).
