PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a system and a method for regenerating a final disposal site, by each of which the volume of waste can be reduced efficiently. SOLUTION : Covering soil of the final disposal site 1 is removed. The buried waste 2 is dug up by a self-traveling digging machine 500. The dug waste is pulled up by a self-traveling lifting machine 600. Scrap iron, or the like, contained in the pulled waste 2 is sorted/separated by a self-traveling sorting machine 700. The scrap iron-removed waste is thrown in a self-traveling screening machine 400 by a self-traveling throwing-in machine 800. The thrown waste 2 is screened into three groups, namely, a group 20 consisting mainly of resins, and the like, a group 11 consisting mainly of stone and a group 12 consisting mainly of earth and sand by the self-traveling screening machine 400. The group 20 is thrown in a compressing machine 1, 000 by a self-traveling transferring/throwing-in machine 900 and melted/volume-reduced. The melted/volume-reduced material is buried again at the final disposal site 1 where the waste 2 is dug up.
