PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for treating water to be treated containing ammonia which regenerates an ammonia zeolite adsorption layer utilizing an ion-exchange performance by an alkali regenerant to concentrate ammonia into a regenerated liquid in a high concentration.SOLUTION : In the method for passing the water to be treated containing ammonia nitrogen coexisting with a magnesium ion and/or an alkali-earth metal ion through a natural zeolite adsorption column to regenerate zeolite by the alkali regenerant, the ion remaining in a space of the zeolite adsorption column and vacant holes of zeolite is removed by water without substantially containing the magnesium ion and/or the alkali-earth metal ion, and then the regeneration of zeolite is carried out by the alkali regenerant. This method is achieved by providing the concentration of ammonia nitrogen collected in the regenerated liquid to 2, 000-10, 000 ppm, further emitting ammonia contained in the regenerated liquid in a gas phase by steam or heated air using a solid alkali and/or a liquid alkali as an alkali of the regenerated liquid, and catalytically decomposing.COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
