PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a new polymer-fixed rear earth metal compound that is suitably used as a catalyst for organic reaction such as ring-opening polymerization of a lactone, organic synthetic reaction to be activated by a Lewis acid. SOLUTION : The polymer-fixed rear earth metal compound is a polystyrene derivative containing a styrene derivative unit represented by general formula [R1, R2 and R3 are each a bifunctional hydrocarbon group; R4 is a hydrocarbon group; M is a rare earth metal element; Y and Z are each a bifunctional connecting group consisting of O, S, an NQ (Q is H or an alkyl group), SO, SO2, an ester group, an amide group and a carbonyl group; p, q, r, s and t are each 0 or 1].
