PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an easily workable high damping material having damping properties more excellent than that of the conventional one and having high strength.
SOLUTION : The high damping material is composed of a Cu-Al-Mn-Ni alloy comprising, by mass 3 to 10% Al, 5 to 20% Mn and 0.2 to 10% Ni, and at least one kind of element selected from the group consisting of Co, Fe, Ti, V, Cr, Si, Nb, Mo, W, Sn, Sb, Mg, P, Be, Zr, Zn, B, C, Ag and misch metal by 0.001 to 10% in total provided that the total of the alloy is defined as 100%, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities. In particular, the Cu-Al-Mn-Ni alloy has a recrystallized structure composed of an austenite(β) single phase in which crystal orientation is uniformized by thermomechanical treatment, or a (β+α) two phases in which the α phase is precipitated into the austenite (β) phase.
