PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a manufacturing method of rare earth bonded magnet powder with which a rare earth magnet scrap can efficiently be converted into rare earth bonded magnet powder with few man-hours and inputted energy, and which can contribute to effective use of rare earth resources.
SOLUTION : A manufacture defective or the waste product (rare earth magnet scrap) of a rare earth magnet which has uniaxial magnetic anisotropy and whose hard magnetic main phase is constituted of the intermetallic compound of a rare earth element and a transition metallic element is used as a part of or whole alloy material by dissolving the alloy material, and a molten metal is obtained. The molten metal is quenched and it is set to be a quenched material so that crystalline organization where the hard magnetic main phase formed of the intermetallic compound of the rare earth element and the transition metallic element is made into a very fine particle with an average particle diameter as 1 μm or below. The crystalline quenched material is left as it is or is pulverized and powder for rare earth bonded magnet is obtained.
