PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To prevent defect in the internal structure, e.g. delamination or crack, and to reduce temperature variation rate of capacitance without lowering the capacitance. SOLUTION : A process for manufacturing a multilayer ceramic capacitor comprises a first step for laying a dielectric layer 12 having a rare earth compound as a subcomponent and an internal electrode 13 containing metal powder and the rare earth compound alternately in layers to produce a multilayer body, and a second step for sintering the multilayer body wherein the addition rate of rare earth compound in the internal electrode 13 is not lower than the addition rate of rare earth compound in the dielectric layer 12.
