CONTROL METHOD OF OPTICAL FIBER AMPLIFIER, AND LIGHT TRANSMITTING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide the control method of a rare earth doped optical fiber amplifier which can realize magnification service of a signal light band at low cost, and to provide the control method of a bidirectional excitation type Raman amplifier which can obtain stabilized performance, irrespective of the lump loss on a transmission path fiber. SOLUTION : As one control method, power of excitation light which is supplied to a rare earth added optical fiber 11 is increased or decreased, transparent wavelength property of a variable gain equalizer 16 is controlled according to the variation of profit wavelength property generated by change in excitation optical power, and signal light band is expanded to short wavelength side or long wavelength side. As the other control method, the proportion of variation for signal optical output power to the variation of front excitation optical power is obtained, in a state with the supply of back excitation light to a transmission path fiber 3 being cut, optimality of front excitation optical power is performed according to the proportion, and desired level diagram can be obtained, irrespective of lump loss on the transmission path fiber.
