PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a manufacturing method of an alkaline storage battery excellent in long-term storage property and a capacity recovery factor, as well as charge/discharge cycle life characteristics. SOLUTION : In the manufacturing method of the alkaline storage battery, (1) a solution dissolving a salt of transition metal elements (at least one kind from among Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu) and a salt of rare-earth elements (at least one kind from among La, Ce, Nd, Pr and Y) or a solution further dissolving a salt of alkaline earth metal elements (at least one kind from among Mg, Sr, Ca and Ba) on it is added with an alkali hydroxide solution, alkali carbonate solution or alkali oxalate solution to produce a mixture of a hydroxide, a carbonate or an oxalate, (2) the mixture is baked to synthesize a complex oxide, and (3) the complex oxide is made to be contained in a positive electrode with nickel hydroxide as a main ingredient by 2 to 30 weight percent of the total volume of the nickel hydroxide.
