PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a ceramic metal halide lamp of modulated light type which suppresses fluctuation of light emitting color of rise of color temperature when lighting modulated light. SOLUTION : This metal halide lamp is provided with : a light emitting vessel made of a ceramic material and composed of a central main pipe part forming a discharge space and thin pipe parts extended from its both ends; a pair of feeding bodies extending in hollow parts of the thin pipe parts; a sealing material sealing an opening end part of the thin pipe part; and a light emitting substance sealed in the discharge space. The light emitting substance is composed of a basic component and an auxiliary component. The basic component is made of halide of rare earth metal, halide of sodium, and halide of magnesium.
