PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare-earth magnet having a sufficiently excellent corrosion resistance, and to provide a method of manufacturing the magnet.SOLUTION : The method of manufacturing the rare-earth magnet forms a reformed area near the surface of an elemental magnet body 10 containing a rare-earth element by irradiating an ion beam upon the surface of the elemental magnet body 10. In this way, a reformed layer 20 is formed on the surface of the elemental magnet body 10. Since the elemental magnet body 10 is protected by the reformed layer 20 in the rare-earth magnet 1 obtained by the method, the magnet 1 can obtain the sufficiently excellent corrosion resistance.COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
