PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a technique by which a process deteriorated layer on the surface of a rare-earth magnet can be restored satisfactorily, using a practical and simple method. SOLUTION : The surface of the elemental magnet body of the rare-earth magnet is restored, by coating the surface with a film grown through chemical vapor deposition containing a rare-earth element as the main component, and the elemental magnet body is a sintered rare-earth magnet obtained, by sintering a molded body of fine alloy powder containing the rare-earth element, a transition metal element, and boron, and has a thickness of ≤2 mm. It is possible to form the chemical vapor deposition film to have a compositional distribution in the thickness direction. In addition, a coating film, containing a corrosion-resistant material on the film grown through chemical vapor deposition, may be formed. COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
