PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method by which a rare-earth magnet, on which a less defective protective layer can be formed and which can satisfactorily maintain a magnetic property, can be manufactured, and to provide an electromagnetic wave irradiating device that can be used appropriately for the method.SOLUTION : The method of manufacturing the rare-earth magnet includes a process of forming the protective layer on the surface of an elemental magnet body containing a rare-earth element by irradiating an electromagnetic wave upon the body in an oxidizing atmosphere. This step can appropriately use the electromagnetic wave irradiating device provided with a generating means which generates the electromagnetic wave; a transmitting means which transmits the electromagnetic wave generated by the generating means; an electromagnetic wave irradiating chamber in which the elemental magnet body can be housed; and an introducing means, one end section of which is connected to the transmitting means and, at the same time, the other end section of which is inserted into the electromagnetic wave irradiating chamber, and which introduces the electromagnetic wave into the electromagnetic wave irradiating chamber from the transmitting means.COPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI
