Disclosed is a rare earth magnet having sufficiently excellent corrosion resistance. Specifically, a rare earth magnet (1) comprises a magnet base body (10) containing a rare earth element and a substantially amorphous layer (20) formed over the surface of the magnet base body (10), and a protective layer (30) formed over the surface of the amorphous layer (20). The amorphous layer (20) contains the same material as the main component of the magnet material contained in the magnet base body (10).
