PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an iron based rare earth magnetic material including a ferromagnetic phase in which Curie temperature is raised by adding an element M (M is at least one kind selected from a group of P, As, Se and Bi).
SOLUTION : The iron based rare earth magnetic material includes Th2Zn17 type crystal structure or a ferromagnetic phase having Th2Ni17 type crystal structure wherein the ferromagnetic phase contains 0.5-10 atm% of element M (M is at least one kind selected from a group of P, As, Se and Bi). In a preferable embodiment, material alloy powder and balls 6 are loaded into the container 4 of a planetary ball mill 10 which then performs rotating/revolving operation to cause solid phase reaction thus producing a magnetic material having composition represented by Nd16FebalM4. Curie temperature is regulated in a range of 50-200°C by adding P.
