PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen storage electrode of excellent cycle characteristic capable of improving gas absorption performance in charging and discharging and discharge characteristic at a low temperature by optimizing the molar ratio of constituent metal of crushed alloy and spheroidal alloy. SOLUTION : This hydrogen storage alloy electrode includes rare earth nickel hydrogen storage alloy (crushed alloy) prepared through a crushing process mixed with uncrushed rare earth nickel hydrogen alloy (spheroidal alloy) of an approximately spheroidal shape. A mole ratio of nickel component of the spheroidal alloy is 0.05-0.30 less than the mole ratio of nickel of the crushed alloy. When the mole ratio of the nickel component of the spheroidal alloy is less than the mole ratio of the nickel component of the crushed alloy, crack resistance of the spheroidal alloy is improved by charge, and a nickel hydrogen storage battery capable of having a great discharge rate at a low temperature and a long battery service life, and suppressing an increase in internal pressure.
