PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a light-emitting element that does not use a harmful substance such as mercury, etc., as a constituent element, is useful as a light source for lighting, display and liquid-crystal backlight replacing a fluorescent lamp with saved power consumption, has high luminance and has no problem in terms of color reproducibility and color rendering properties.
SOLUTION : The red light-emitting phosphor for ultraviolet light and blue light excitation is represented by general formula (La1-x-y, Eux, Lny)2O2S (Ln is at least one kind of trivalent rare earth element of Y, Gd, Lu, Sc, Sm and Er; y is a number satisfying 0≤y≤0.50) and comprises Li and has an Eu content x in the range of 0.02≤x≤0.50 and 5 ppm-10, 000 ppm Li content. The light-emitting element is constituted by combining the red light-emitting phosphor or a white light and multicolor light emitting phosphor using the red light-emitting phosphor with an ultraviolet light, blue light and near ultraviolet light emitting LED chip having a luminescence peak in the wavelength range of 370-500 nm.
