PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare-earth magnet which has a protective layer with superior characteristics on the surface and thereby shows high corrosion resistance, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION : The rare-earth magnet 1 comprises a magnet body 2 containing a rare-earth element and a protective layer 4 formed on the surface. The protective layer 4 contains a compound in which an organic structural unit and an inorganic structural unit are covalently bonded.
