Luminescent Lanthanide(Ⅲ)-Chelated Dendritic Complexes Having Light-Harvesting Effect and Their Synt

PURPOSE : Provided is an organic light emitting rare earth metal ion-containing dendrimer type complex, which has improved solubility in a polymer medium to be doped to the polymer medium, and shows the light harvesting effect to compensate for a drop in light intensity. CONSTITUTION : The rare earth metal ion-containing complex is represented by the following formula. In the above formula, Ln represents Yb or Nd; a is 0, 1 or 2; B is a specific aromatic radical; and R is terpyridine or bipyridine. The rare earth metal ion-containing complex is prepared by the steps of : adding KH, B-CO2H and any one of terpyridine or bipyridine to a flask dried under vacuum; adding an organic solvent to the reaction mixture to dissolve it; stirring the reaction mixture until no more hydrogen gas is generated, and adding a solution containing anhydrous ErCl3 and a small amount of methanol to the flask by using a cannula, followed by stirring for 24 hours; and removing the solvent under vacuum, and washing the product with diethyl ether many times, followed by vacuum drying. © KIPO 2006
