PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing an R-TM-B(rare earth-transition metal-boron)-based sintered magnet capable of suppressing the deformation during a sintering process of a vertically placed molding.SOLUTION : The method has a molding process of obtaining the molding by pressure molding a raw material composition in a magnetic field and the sintering process of holding the molding at a prescribed temperature for a prescribed time, wherein the C-containing gas due to a C-containing composition included in the raw material composition is released at a temperature T (where T is the peak temperature of the C-containing gas discharge ±20°C), and the sintering process is executed by controlling the temperature of the sintering atmosphere so as to avert the co-existence of the molding heated to the temperature T and the molding heated to ≥400°C when the temperature at which the C in the released C-containing gas and the R included in the molding initiates a reaction is defined as t (where T
