Production of a landfill covering using a natural-looking material obtained from waste materials or waste-derived earth is such that such earth is laid either directly (or with a leveling layer) on the landfill to inhibit escape of landfill-gases or -water or other dangerous materials into the environment, while also preventing sliding or erosion, and acting as a recultivation layer which is lastingly integrated into the landscape like natural earth.
