PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a casting device capable of producing a rare earth based alloy by a strip casting method in such a manner that the size of the crystals thereof is made larger than that by the conventional technique. SOLUTION : The molten metal of a rare earth based alloy melted in a vacuum chamber 2 is poured to a water cooled roll 6 rotating at a high speed, and is subjected to primary cooling at 900 to 1, 000°C, and the obtained thin strip-shaped rare earth based alloy is dropped inside a pan-shaped vessel 14 adiabatically fitted to the lower part and rotating at a low speed. Since a plurality of spade edges 25 in the lower end part of a frame 24 are pressed against the face of the pan-shaped vessel 14, by the rotation of the pan-shaped vessel 14, the rare earth based alloy is dug by the spade edges 25 is mixed, and is leveled. The rare earth based alloy is held at 600 to 800°C for ≥10 min in this state, and is therefore homogeneously annealed, thus, the rare earth alloy having crystals larger than those of the one by the conventional technique can be obtained. After the completion of the annealing, the cold of pressurized gaseous argon is sprayed on the rare earth based alloy to be cooled.
