The preparation of silicates from an element, chosen from alkaline, alkaline earth or rare earth elements, includes a reaction between silica and a sulphate of the element in a reactor equipped with at least one burner immersed in a molten mass. The immersed burner is fed by a gas incorporating oxygen with an excess of reducing fuel being introduced into the reactor in relation to the oxygen effectively consumed. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a silicate precipitated by this method.
