PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a lamp of a long life capable of starting up at a lower voltage. SOLUTION : The high-pressure discharge lamp equipped with an arc tube 101 and a bypass tube part is provided with a sealed space 106 other than the arc tube at at least one place in the bypass tube part. Moreover, at least oxygen and rare gas are sealed in inside the space 106 to have the space discharge by a start-up auxiliary wire 105, whereby, a start-up voltage can be greatly lowered as compared with a case in which the oxygen is not sealed, and that, an effect of lowering of the start-up voltage can be sustained even during the life.
