PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an organic EL element in which elevation of drive voltage in accordance with duration of application time can be suppressed sufficiently than in a conventional element. SOLUTION : The organic EL element 100 is provided with an organic light emitting layer 10 between a hole injection electrode 1 and an electron injection electrode 2, wherein the hole injection electrode 1 is provided with a reforming part 20 containing positive elements or rare gases different from the main component elements to constitute the electrode 1 near the surface on the side of the organic light emitting layer 10.
