PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To produce an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst capable of exhibiting excellent cleaning characteristics, obtained by calcinating a composite oxide having the same amount of a noble metal as the conventional ones at low temperature and thereby preventing reduction of Pd dispersion due to advancement of crystalization, and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION : The Pd based composite oxide contains at least one kind selected from rare-earth metals. In the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst, the Pd based composite oxide contains Ln2PdO4 and Ln4PdO7 (Ln : a rare-earth metal).
