PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for adding REM into molten steel by which the REM can be added with a wire at high yield into the molten steel having been subjected secondary refining. SOLUTION : When the REMs of one or more kinds among Ce, La, Pr and Nd are added with the wire into the molten steel 2 in a ladle after deoxidizing with Al or Al-Si and performing the secondary refining, the wire 3 of the REM alloy containing 0.5-30 wt% Mg or Ca is used. The wire 3 of the REM alloy and the wire containing Mg or Ca are parallel added. The REM is gently stirred by gasifying Mg or Ca in the wire and since the stirring power does not become excessive, the REM is not uselessly consumed by reacting with slag 4.
