PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a strongly luminous rare earth complex exhibiting more excellent luminous properties than conventional rare earth complexes and giving an emission spectrum having a sharp peak. SOLUTION : The rare earth complex has an asymmetric complex structure represented by a specific chemical formula having Eu3+, Tb3+, Yb3+, Nd3+, Er3+, Sm3+, Dy3+, Ce3+ or the like as a central metal. The rare earth complex having such a structure exhibits excellent luminous properties and gives the emission spectrum having a narrow half width and a sharp peak. The use of the rare earth complex permits the manufacture of a laser oscillation apparatus oscillating laser beams with less energy consumption than before.
