PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing an olefin, capable of improving the yield of the olefin by using dimethyl ether as a raw material and inhibiting the production of a paraffin or an aromatic hydrocarbon as byproducts. SOLUTION : This method for producing the olefin is characterized by using a zeolite catalyst obtained by loading a rare earth element on an aluminosilicate, in which the loaded amount of the rare earth element is 1.5-30 range by atomic ratio based on aluminum in the zeolite.
