PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To produce a high performance rare earth quench magnet alloy stably using quenching equipment of relatively low quenching rate. SOLUTION : In the process for producing a rare earth quench magnet alloy, first quenching process for quenching a molten rare earth alloy 1 is carried out, and then second quenching process for making an alloy 5 having a temperature lowered through first quenching process touch a cooling medium, and thus quenching the alloy 5 furthermore is carried out. In the second quenching process, the alloy 5 is brought into contact with the inner wall of a cooling drum 6 functioning as the cooling medium while rotating.
