A method of under-die cutting consists of : - (a) forming some strands of glass wire from molten glass traversing through orifices in a die to form a plurality of filaments (2) which are re-united to form a sheet; -(b) directing the sheet to a cutter adapted to cut at least one wire formed by the reunion of at least one sheet to the desired length and conforming to a trajectory between the die and the cutter; - (c) during a phase of modification of the operating parameters, it incorporates a transitory drawing operation with a thread cutter (1) incorporating some drawing devices (4, 5) for the wire and adapted to better preserve the thermal stability conditions of the die, without having to add to the air under the die, the thread cutter being interposed on the trajectory of a wire between the finishing operation and the cutting operation. - A method of under-die cutting consists of : - (a) forming some strands of glass wire from molten glass traversing through orifices in a die to form a plurality of filaments (2) which are re-united to form a sheet; - (b) directing, after a finishing operation, the sheet to a cutter adapted to cut at least one wire formed by the reunion of at least one sheet to the desired length and conforming to a trajectory between the die and the cutter; - (c) during a phase of modification of the operating parameters, it incorporates a transitory drawing operation with a thread cutter (1) incorporating some drawing devices (4, 5) for the wire and adapted to better preserve the thermal stability conditions of the die, without having to add to the air under the die, the thread cutter being interposed on the trajectory of a wire between the finishing operation and the cutting operation. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for the thread cutter.
