PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a scintillator whose electron detector converts the energy of X rays into sensitive red light and also shows the capability to indicate a low afterglow level. SOLUTION : A scintillator layer in a panel contains luminescent rare-earth element activating lutetium oxysulfide phosphors expressed by a formula, Lu2O2S : xM (where M is chosen from among a group of rare-earth elements consisting of Eu, Pr and Sm and x is 0.0001 to 0.2), or luminescent rare-earth elements activating lutetium oxyorthosilicate phosphors expressed by a formula, Lu2O5Si : xM (where M is chosen from among a group of rare-earth elements consisting of Eu, Pr and Sm and x is 0.0001 to 0.2).
