PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a fluorophor glass filler for dental use and a dental material facilitating discrimination from natural teeth. SOLUTION : The fluorophor glass filler for dental use is obtained by compounding a glass filler to be incorporated in dental materials used for filling into dental treatment spots or dental aesthetic therapies, or the like, with one or more rare earth oxides such as of Eu, Dy and/or Tb emitting fluorescence on ultraviolet irradiation. The dental material is obtained by incorporating this fluorophor glass filler in a composite resin or glass ionomer cement. This dental material can easily be discriminated from natural teeth based on whether or not fluorescence is emitted on ultraviolet or visible ray irradiation even if the difference from natural teeth is hard to discriminate.
