PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a light emitting device using a fluorophor comprising a rare earth ion complex excellent in durability. SOLUTION : The light emitting device has a light emitting semiconductor unit, and the fluorophor comprising a rare earth ion complex fluorescent material that has an aromatic ring, has an ion of a Broensted acid with a pKa value of not more than 7 as a ligand, and emits light by the light emitted by the light emitting semiconductor unit. A fluorophor comprising a europium complex (Eu(p-DBFBA)3Phen, or the like) represented by the formula that has a Lewis base such as 1, 10-phenanthroline (Phen) as an auxiliary ligand is an example of the fluorophor.
