PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical fiber laser the oscillating wavelength of which is controlled satisfactorily. SOLUTION : The optical fiber laser comprises a pumping light source 1, a condenser lens 2, and a first filter 3. The laser also comprises a rare-earth doped fiber 4, a collimator lens 5, and a wavelength control element 6. In addition, the laser also comprises a second filter 7 etc. The wavelength control element 6 controls the oscillating wavelength of oscillating light emitted from the rare-earth doped fiber 4 to an arbitrary wavelength in 2.9-μm band by making variable the angle [!theta!] between the optical axis of the oscillating light emitted from the fiber 4 and the direction perpendicular to the surface of the wavelength control element 6. The control element 6 is constituted in a dielectric multilayered filter.
