PURPOSE : A method and an apparatus for processing live shellfish suitable to distribute in market for long period are provided by effectively vomiting sand and soil and separating dead and broken ones from the shellfish, then sterilizing the treated shellfish. CONSTITUTION : The method and the apparatus comprise a separating bath(10) containing sand and soil and sea water in a constant ratio; a circulation fan(12) equipped to lower portion of the bath(10) to circulate the sand and soil and the sea water up and down; a motor(14) for driving the fan(12); a porous plate(16) at top portion of the fan(12) for inhibiting inflow of the shellfish into the fan(12); a supporting bar(17) to support the porous plate(16) and a drain mounted at bottom portion of the separating bath(10).
