PURPOSE : To allow a cell body to accumulate rare earth elements, especially Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Tb, Ho and Er in it by culturing a microorganism capable of accumulating rare earth elements and belonging to the genus Comamonas. CONSTITUTION : A microorganism belonging to the genus Comamonas, e.g. Comamonas acidovorans R-I (FERM P-14490), which is capable of accumulating rare earth elements, is cultured under aerobic conditions. A culture temperature and a medium pH are preferably 20-70 deg.C and 5-9, respectively. The microorganism shown above as an example is negative in mannitol assimilation and negative in alkalifying of acetoamide.
