PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of producing ion-exchanged colored glass with little change in color before and after ion exchange treatment.
SOLUTION : There is produced ion-exchanged colored glass having at least one surface under a compressive stress comprising at least about 500 MPa, the at least one surface under the compressive stress exhibiting a depth of layer (DOL) comprising at least about 15 μm. In the production, an ion exchange treatment up to about 64 hours is applied to the glass comprising : about 40-70 mol% of SiO2; about 5-15 mol% of AL2O3; about 5-35 mol% of Na2O; and one or more metal containing dopants selected from a group comprising Au, Ag, Pr, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu as one or more metal containing dopants formulated to impart a preselected color.
